Three Athletes Shortlisted for Young Athlete of the Year Prize

English soccer star Michelle Agyemang, darts player Luke Littler and cricket star Davina Perrin have been selected as contenders for the this year's Young Sports Star of the Year award.
The trio have been honoured for their exceptional achievements over the past 12 months.
Agyemang played a key role in helping the Lionesses secure Euro 2025, Littler won the world title for the very first time, and Perrin surged to prominence with a unprecedented innings.
Littler won the award in 2024 after his sensational debut year.
The shortlisted athletes were unveiled on a national radio breakfast show.
This year's winner will be unveiled on the Sports Personality of the Year show on the 18th of December.
The ceremony will be aired from 19:00 GMT.
Agyemang's Profile
Age: 19 Sport: Football
Just three months after her first cap for her country, Agyemang played a dramatic and decisive role in England's run to European Championship victory.
She came off the bench to score crucial late equalisers in both the knockout stage games.
These match-saving moments led to her being named the tournament's top young talent.
Afterwards, she was awarded the prestigious Golden Girl honour for the best young player in Europe.
She was also shortlisted for the Kopa Trophy for the world's best under-21 female player.
Agyemang, who has been at Brighton in a temporary move from Arsenal, suffered an ACL injury in October.
"Being on the shortlist for Young Sports Personality of the Year is a privilege," said Agyemang. "I thank God and I'm thankful for the support I've received from my loved ones, mentors, colleagues and supporters."
Luke Littler
Age: 18 Sport: Darts
Littler's 2025 began in sensational style as - aged 17 - he became the earliest-ever winner in history.
He secured a comprehensive triumph over Michael van Gerwen in the final.
His follow-up triumph at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth competitor to complete the prestigious three major tournament wins.
And he wasn't finished there - his win in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he ascended to world number one for the first time.
At 18, he is the most youthful player to do so, smashing the previous record.
"To receive a nomination for this award again is a huge privilege," stated Littler. "Last year's win was a special memory for me and I've had another unbelievable 12 months. I want to continue elevating darts."
The Cricket Sensation
Age: 19 Sport: Cricket
Perrin is one of English cricket's top prospects and rose to fame with an unbelievable and unprecedented innings in August.
Her sublime 42-ball century in The Hundred is the fastest by an English woman in T20s.
It also stands as the equal third-quickest women's T20 century in a major league or full member T20 international.
Perrin came in second place in the batting rankings and was named PCA Women's Young Player of the Year.
"I'm incredibly grateful to be nominated for the young athlete award," expressed Perrin. "This is phenomenal. I hope it encourages more young women to get into cricket."
