The second-hand marketplace Users Voice Displeasure Regarding Sizing Updates
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has revised its size classifications for women's and children's garments failing to inform all users about the change.
Digital Channels Backlash
Countless users and merchants are posting online claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and manually change the size if necessary, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Modifications
Earlier, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Member Experiences
One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Another user, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she stated.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million users, with 18 million British users.
It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options after backlash from users.
