The City boss confessed experiencing "embarrassment" following a confrontation with a TV crew member in the wake of the Citizens' loss away to the Magpies this past weekend.

At full time, a visibly upset Guardiola stepped onto the field and engaged in intense talks with match official Sam Barrott and Newcastle’s Bruno Guimarães, while also handling the broadcast crew's equipment.

"I apologised," Guardiola stated. "I feel embarrassed, ashamed, when I see it. I don’t like it. I immediately apologized to the operator. That's just me. After 1,000 games I'm far from perfect, I make huge mistakes."

"One thing is certain, I stand by my team and club, that’s for sure. Why I support my squad is clear – because from my experience to win the Premier League we have to do 100 points, high nineties, or we fall short."

City's Position and Manager's Take

The team sits in third and are seven behind the Gunners following their fourth loss this campaign. "Losing four games out of 12 we have to improve a lot," Guardiola admitted. "Technically, we can still achieve all."

The manager was asked if this meant the quadruple could be achieved, Guardiola answered: "You are an experienced journalist, did you hear my talk discuss four trophies last winter when we won the quadruple? Never."

Interaction with Guimarães

On the subject of his talk with Guimarães, Guardiola said: "I've known him for many years and post-match, even at the Etihad, we talk in the tunnel. Our paths always cross and we get along well. I enjoy it. I’m an emotional guy, I like discussing and gesticulate."

Guardiola would not be concerned if an opposition manager spoke to his players right after the final whistle. "Not if you talk with respect as I do, it's fine," he noted, before referencing Barrott. "He was part of it throughout the match, constantly. My God, he was involved."

Debatable Calls

The team felt aggrieved that Barrott or the VAR denied a spot-kick for a Fabian Schär challenge on Phil Foden, while they also questioned if Guimarães was offside when Harvey Barnes scored the decisive strike. Pictures published later indicate the Brazilian was onside.

Upcoming Milestone

Guardiola will take charge of his 100th Champions League game against Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday. "It’s quite good, it means that every season annually," he commented.

City have 10 points from four matches in the group, while Leverkusen have five.
