Around 25,000 residences in southeastern Queensland were left lacking electricity on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms swept through the state, producing wind gusts topping over 100 km/h.

Homeowners witnessed substantial frozen pellets measuring up to 7 centimeters in certain regions. Weather authorities verified that multiple regions across Queensland had been hit with significant hail.

Emergency crews were focused on reestablishing power throughout the damaged zones, with dozens of response units working to manage the numerous electricity disruptions.
Southern State's Storm Challenges
Meanwhile, around 1,000 residents in Victoria also experienced power outages after the metropolitan area experienced its most precipitation in a year and a half.
State Emergency Services received 598 emergency reports across the region, primarily for building damage but also for downed trees and inundation.

- The Werribee area - saw considerable storm damage
- Hoppers Crossing area - various assistance requests
- Wyndham region - nearly 180 emergency requests
At one point on yesterday, over 28k electricity consumers in Victoria were without power.

Moist weather were forecast to persist along significant areas of eastern Queensland this next several days as a atmospheric system continued to draw in moisture against the coastal areas.
Tuesday was forecast to be the wettest day, with persistent storm activity expected across various areas of both states.

Health officials alerted that there was an increased chance of weather-related respiratory issues across the state's northern country region, specifically given the existing atmospheric conditions.
