The cyclone, which registered winds of up to 120 miles per hour as of 06:00 GMT, is currently turning toward the northwest in the Caribbean Sea and is projected to reach land by Tuesday, based on data from meteorological authorities.

Advisories are also in effect for parts of Haiti encompassing the primary urban center, the adjacent nation and eastern Cuba, where the hurricane is expected to bring similar effects by the midweek period.

Landslides presently generated by the cyclone have caused two deaths in Haiti, according to the nation's Civil Protection agency.
